Hycamite Tcd Technologies Oy has been a client of Patrio Oy Ab for some time and we have conducted demanding senior management searches for their organisation. Hycamite is headquartered in Kokkola and there is a fierce competition for good people in the KIP and sub-region. The interviews below tell more about the successes and experiences of the search during the recruitment process.
How did we succeed in the search process VP R & D Samuli Räsänen, did it leave you with any particular impressions?
“Patrio was very successful in my search process. To quote my Tenavi, I would rate the process as a whole as “five out of five”. A couple of things in particular stood out. Firstly, the first contact was by text message early Monday morning, which was a departure from the traditional approach via LinkedIn message. The timing and content of the message was spot on. The second thing that stood out was Jari’s commitment to the process. He promised to always be available for whatever came to mind in the process and this was certainly true. Jari was literally available at any time and you could talk to him very openly about anything related to the topic, even about your own experience of uncertainty.”
Sara Mesceriakove, you moved to Hycamite as a researcher and your whole family moved from Kuopio to Kokkola. What made you make such a big change as a family?
“We had been considering a career for some time and had started to look at employment opportunities in industry. In our family, both of us are materials science professionals from the research side and it turned out that in Kokkola we could both be employed. This contributed significantly to our decision to settle in Kokkola. In addition to the job opportunities, we liked Kokkola for its size, which seemed to be suitable for a family with children.”
How has the role met your expectations and how have you been received by the organisation Heidi Karjalainen, Manager Environment.
“It was actually quite exciting to jump on board such a fast-moving train. I’ve been able to develop things and do work where I can use my skills. It was easy to get involved in this working community. I have been very well received and I feel that my skills are valued.”
Tuomas Keskitalo, how has the Commissioning Lead Automation role met your expectations?
“My expectations at the time of recruitment were cautious, and I feel that the role has been a good move in my career. I have been positively surprised by my own competence in a number of different areas, although there has been a lot to get to know and learn. The direct approach of the company and the good spirit of the staff in moving things forward has helped me to adapt.
Riikka Lindholm, you have recently joined Hycamite as Operations Manager. Could you tell us why Hycamite convinced you to join their team?
“I have been following Hycamite’s growth story for quite some time through various media, and through them I got a very good brand image of the company. The company’s values, strategy, products, corporate social responsibility and vision seemed very interesting and the future prospects were so attractive that I decided to submit an open application via the company’s website. The recruitment process (Patrio – Hycamite partnership) confirmed my perception of the company and their values, and I felt that they were genuinely interested in hiring good, competent people. I could already see the spirit of doing things during the recruitment process, and during the process I was able to bring my own strengths to the fore, and these were taken into account in the job offer phase. After receiving the job offer, it was a very easy decision to join Hycamate!”
Petra Maunula, VP People, with you we have worked very closely on the search. Hycamite is growing very fast and the searches are demanding. What things about Hycamite interest candidates?
“In short, meaningful work, building new and clean technology and team. These themes invariably come up in job interviews.”
Certainly the competence of the candidate is important for the company but also the personality. What kind of people do you want at Hycamite?
“The team is the most important thing for us! This is where having the right skills and fitting into a team really plays a key role. In 2023, based on the results of the employee survey, we will develop an EVP, or employee value proposition. It made it easy for us to communicate what kind of workplace we are and what we offer. The value proposition is also a good reflection of the kind of people we want on the team.”
We’re really pleased to have been able to recruit top professionals to the Hycamite organisation. From the very first meeting, the good spirit of the company and the “pulling together” spirit have been very evident. The openness, honesty and speed of decision making have helped us in the application process to attract top professionals,” says Jari Luoma, CEO and Executive Headhunter at Patrion and Account Manager at Hycamite.
